The business model that millionaires get wrong

Do you want to know the most common way entrepreneurs build out their business models?

It’s like this:

“I saw XYZ guru talking on Twitter about their new [product]… so I’m going to do that too!”

Whatever that product may be…

MRR thingy, premium newsletter, $7 tripwire…

They just blindly copy it.

They assume that because a well-known person is doing something, it must be a good idea.

But there are major problems with this:

  1. Just because someone is doing something, doesn’t mean it works
  2. Their audience may behave entirely differently to yours
  3. They might have resources that make execution easier
  4. Doing the same as everyone else demeans you in the eyes of the market
  5. If you build your business around it, and get it wrong, it can be hard to undo

But these aren’t even the main reasons.

Here’s the most important reason not to blindly model others:

“It’s not right for me.”

Sounds silly, right?

A rather trivial way to make a decision?

If it makes you money, surely you should do it?

Balderdash.

Look…

A business model isn’t some paint-by-numbers blueprint that you assemble like Lego.

It’s a living, breathing thing that has to work in tandem with your own energy as a person and an entrepreneur..

If you build something that’s not in alignment with your energy, you’ll eventually find a way to blow it up.

And here’s the irony…

It’s when you’re successful that this becomes a major problem.

In the early days, you can bite your tongue and do anything if it makes you money.

But the only thing worse than something you hate is…

Something you hate… at scale!

That’s why it’s so important to understand your full range of options as you build out your business.

So rather than just copying something you see others doing…

You slow down…

Do some thorough research…

And make conscious choices that work for you as a human.

That way, when you do become successful, you’ll actually find yourself living a life you love.

Simple.

Namaste,

Olly
