Scaling to a 7-figure business means building a team, but the hard part is mindset. Here are the 5 fears that stop solo creators, and how to beat each one.
My journey didn’t start as an entrepreneur. It started in a smoky pub as a jazz musician and in a classroom as an English teacher.
When I started my business, my goal was simple — make a living without losing what I loved.
In 2013, from a dusty café in the Middle East, I started my first education business, StoryLearning, to teach my passion for languages.
I grew that passion project into a $10M business that generates 7-figures in annual profit, needing only 4 days a month of my time.
That freedom allowed me to write books that sold 1.5 million copies, start multiple other 6 and 7-figure businesses, and invest in founders I believe in.
Today, I mentor established education entrepreneurs to grow profitably, teach with integrity, and keep the freedom they started for.
Building a profitable business is the easy part… The hard part is building a life you love.
Too many 6- and 7-figure entrepreneurs get trapped by hustle culture, only to wake up one day trapped in a business they hate.

That’s what I’m here to help you with.
With the right strategies, frameworks and mindset, you can design your education business to be simple and highly profitable.
It’s the ability to see the hidden leverage in your business, and it’s how I help entrepreneurs learn in hours or days what took me a decade to master.
The best way to understand this is to see it in action. My free case study breaks down the strategic thinking behind StoryLearning’s growth to a $10M business.

There’s a strategy I’ve been using for years to get extra sales that involves giving a certain amount of stuff away for free. I used this strategy again last week, and it brought in 4-figures of extra revenue. So I thought I’d share it here. Here goes… So, I just launched a new intensive course, […]
There’s a comment I get fairly regularly on my StoryLearning YouTube channel that always makes me chuckle: “Oh, you’re the guy who wrote those books I’ve got!” See exhibits A, B and C… See, in the StoryLearning world, there’s a circuitous pathway that people take to becoming a customer. Often it starts with discovering our […]
Last year, I had a problem. Email leads at Story Learning had dropped to offensively low levels. Our SEO traffic – which had been a reliable source of hundreds of leads every week – had dried up completely. I needed to replace it. And fast. The target? 500 to 1,000 new leads a week. That […]
Recently, I sent a rather self-congratulatory email about how my preference is to build lifestyle businesses. You know… businesses that kick off large amounts of profit, and don’t require you to work all that much… So you can enjoy life in the here and now. Online education businesses are uniquely suited to this kind of […]
Is it me, or is it suddenly cool to talk about ‘lifestyle businesses’ again? I dunno… For years, everything I’ve seen on social media has been “how to [hundreds of millions] and 10X in 37 minutes, and if you’re not literally bleeding from the eyeballs you’re doing it wrong” type vibe. Whereas now, everyone be like: “How to […]
